Earlier this month we learned that one of our Stork Vision families received heartbreaking news that their baby,  Jett , has Alper’s Syndrome.

Alper’s Syndrome is a rare mitochondrial disease that has no cure and has a quick progression.  It is a very rare genetic disorder that causes seizures and liver problems.   You can read more about it at here.

To help try and ease some of the financial burden associated with the medical care costs that the Johnson’s will incur, many of our Stork Vision stores are making donations to a special account set up in Jett’s name.  If you are interested in assisting this family and would like to make a direct donation you can do so by writing a check out to:

Jett H. Johnson (account no. 3977595) and send it to our corporate address listed below.   We will make sure the Johnson family receives your generous donation (however large or small):

~Operation Special Delivery

Stork Vision® feels passionately about our commitment to give back to the community and has proudly joined forces with Childbirth and Postpartum professional Association (CAPPA) and Operation Special Delivery (OSD). CAPPA and Operation Special Delivery is a non-profit International Organization that supports all branches of the military including Reservists and the National Guard, and was started after the tragedies of September 11, 2001. Operation Special Delivery provides trained volunteer doulas for pregnant women whose husbands or partners have been severely injured or who have lost their lives due to the current war on terror, or who will be deployed at the time that they are due to give birth. A doula is someone who is specially trained to give informational, emotional, and physical support to women during childbirth.

For most expectant mothers, pregnancy is an experience they blissfully share with their partners. However, for many military families, the call of duty leaves expectant mothers behind to face delivery alone. Stork Vision® wants to help by raising awareness and funds to ensure that expectant military mothers don’t have to give birth alone. To be able to provide a loving and helpful presence to military moms is just our way of trying to repay an enormous debt of gratitude for their family’s sacrifice in service to our country. We leverage the power of all Stork Vision® Prenatal Imaging Centers nationwide and support this worthy cause.

Expectant military mothers who want more information can visit the website www.operationspecialdelivery.com to fill out an application form and get matched with a doula in your area.
